Enid Blyton Memories

Shalene Valenzuela‘s ceramic art brings to mind the illustrations on the covers and pages of Enid Blyton‘s books. I devoured Blyton’s books like the wind when I was a child, and the imminent sense of nostalgia I have refuses to be eroded by the likes of the Potter kid.

A Mr Twiddle book was the first one of hers that I owned, while another favourite was The Naughtiest Girl In School. I always loved Blyton’s descriptions of food and sweets, so much so that I still remember asking my mother for ‘scones’, and feeling disappointed that the real thing did not live up to my imagination’s conjuration of how it should have tasted, as according to Ms Blyton.
